School Leaders Fellowship / District Charter Collaborative
FCSA launched the School Leaders Fellowship (SLF) in 2021 to increase the pool of high-quality charter school leaders in Florida. SLF was designed specifically for individuals currently working at a public charter school who are passionate about education and interested in leading a school in a high-need area. The highly selective, cohort-based program prepares high-caliber individuals with the vision, passion, and capacity to lead a public charter school. Through virtual and in-person classes, mentorship with experienced charter school principals, mentors and case studies, the Fellows emerge from the program prepared to lead a school. Florida Charter School Alliance (FCSA), in collaboration with the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE), hosted The Charter School Leaders and Authorizers Compliance and Best Practices Training and Collaboration. This innovative approach to collaboration is made possible by the Florida Department of Education’s Charter Schools Program (CSP) grant. The FCSA facilitated trainings and provided support to Florida charter school authorizers, specifically focusing on district superintendents and school board members, and not only included a series of Authorizer trainings, but also collaborative roundtable discussions between charter school leaders and authorizers (including Superintendents, and School Board Members from across the state)
