| Rethinking Autism: Preparation for Life After School
For high fuctioning youth with disabilities, an academic education is only a small part of ensuring post-secondary success. The 70% unemployment rate for individuals with disabilities has remained constant for almost 25 years. It's time to change the way we think about education for youth with disabilities. Time we taught to their strengths, not their disabilities. This presentation explores ways to enable, prepare, and support meaningful curriculum to allow for positive post-secondary outcomes. Topics to be discussed will include, self-determination, disability disclosure, and the use of the self-directed Individual Educational Plan.
