| Innovative Practices that Increase Mathematics Achievement
High-achieving students understand mathematics not merely memorize it. (Memorization requires extensive reviewing.) Place value is best learned through using the "math way" of number naming and overlapping place-value cards. Facts are best learned with visualizable strategies employing fives' groupings; story problems, with part/whole circles; and fractions, with linear fraction charts.
